I went to High School with Kid's younger brother, who is a pretty good harp player himself. I spent the better part of the 90's watching Lynwood and Kid playing together. Glad you posted this, I'm going to try and make it--perhaps I'll see you there. Now back to the NAMM thread.
The same guys that snicker and sneer at the performers are the same "know it alls" that come on these forums and insist they know everything about guitar and gear. They are the same guys that say accomplished guitar players (EVH, SRV, Clapton, etc.) suck and are overrated.
I actually put this in my estate plan. I assigned a special guitar to my son and two step children. This was based on sentimental value and coneecting memories of the specific guitar to the child. The rest will be sold and the proceeds will be put back into the trust estate.
Out here in So Cal it's simple. As people age, they slow or stop going to bars. Which leaves the majority of patrons in their 20's and 30's. Young women like to hear music they can dance to and don't want to see middle aged men playing guitar. Young men are trying to score with young women...
Alabama no doubt is the best team in the country. But the BCS system is broken. Would have been fun to see what would of happenned. Also, congrats to Alabama's quaterback AJ McCarron on having such a hot girlfriend--she was the best part of the broadcast.
I play mostly at home but get out about 2x a month to jam with other musicians. I actually enjoy these informal jam sessions much more than gigging because we can play wat we want without the pressure of putting on a show and entertaining others. We can play undanceable tunes and if we want to...

I agree completely. I play my guitars hard, but as Markie pointed out I don't wear anythink that I know is going to cause harm to the guitar. Every now and then my 3 1/2 year old son puts a scratch or mark in one of my guitars and I can deal with that. I am also obsessive about keeping them...
Some of their failures were real turds, like the McCarty II and the 25th McCarty with narrowfields. Others turned out to be collector's items like the Metal model which didn't fly off the shelf when it was introduced but is now a collectors piece.
