    Recommendation for STUDIO pickup replacement??

I've got a 2012 Studio that I'm nuts over. I don't mind the covered bridge/uncovered N/M at all, but taste is personal. I will say that I have wished that the 57/08 held together better at higher gain. Don't get me wrong, the pickup is the best lower-gain humbucker I've ever heard, but as I...

    My poor kid...

Having owned a ton of strats, teles, and a CU24, I'd say Studio. My Studio is the guitar I'd wish I'd owned since 1993 when I was the electric guitar accompanying an acuoustic-playing human jukebox that could cover about anything. The stock Studio works for everything up to AC/DC. Like mine...

    your tone?

The only tone I've chased was George Lynch's from the Breaking the Chains album. I had it for a bit, but then got tired of it. Since then, I've chased textures - trying to figure out how I can fit in a sonic landscape and convey a similar emotion to the original artist. It's worked out pretty...

    NGD: ZM SE

I got a chance to play the ZM SE last weekend, and in my estimation the pickups were the only weak link in that guitar. Great score, and I really like how those covered 'buckers look!

Poll: Pickup Rings colour change on my CU24 - Grey Black

Black. When I got my Cu24 in 1995, one of the first things I ever bought over the 'net was a set of PRS factory black pickup rings to replace the creams. I don't mind the cream as much on my Eriza Verde studio, but on a darker guitar I want dark wood or black plastic.

    PRS is killing it. rambling...

Right now, there's only one guitar I want, and it's a PRS. Unfortunately, it's a model that they discontinued. Furthermore, I'm pretty specific about color, trem, and neck shape. So I wait, rather than ask my local pusher to order me one.

Have you ever had that "my guitar sound so lifeless" day?

I get it. I find that my mood has a lot to do with how I perceive guitar tone. If I'm kind of restless, antsy for no reason, I tend to be dissatisfied with my tone, and I end up spending time stomping on pedals, swapping pickup positions, etc. If I'm feeling really depressed, often the guitar...

Quality Time With A Paul's Guitar

I've not had the chance to play a PG, but I have played a 408 and thought that I could certainly get along with a guitar using that neck pickup. I do like that PRS is trying different things in pickups, but I wish they had a couple more flavors of each available (or would work with an...

    NF3 is awesome!

I can wholeheartedly say that the proprietary pickup size with no options if I didn't care for the pickups made me VERY hesitant to drop money on a guitar. Especially when it had been discontinued, and I knew that if one went bad I probably couldn't get a new one from the factory. That's kind...

    NF3 is awesome!

I've got a Studio, and love the NF pickups in that guitar. I spent a good deal of time with an NF3 at my local pusher, and that guitar is a strat killer. Were I still gigging heavily in a blues band, there's no doubt I'd have one of the NF3's to be my primary guitar. Versatile pickups, PRS...

    SE245 adventure's in strings

By the way, for strings, try plain old ordinary D'Addario EXL's. I've tried the DR's before but never found a significant enough difference to pay more for those over the D'Addarios.

    Very pretty guitar. Happy NGD!

    PRS Studio-----Pickup Question

I have a Custom 24 that I bought new in 1995. The Studio is, IMHO, a more versatile guitar. Both have 5-way switches, but the Studio's are more usable to me. With my old Custom, positions 2 and 4 (essentially Tele and Strat) took such a huge volume drop that I needed a boost pedal to use...

    PRS Studio-----Pickup Question

Production stopped either in '12 or '13. There are some new ones still left out there if you look around. I'm still thinking I may want another, so I'm looking for a very specific one. We'll see if one ever pops up.
