Compare 85/15 and Dragon II pickups

Even the imported 85/15s have stellar cleans. I think it’s a bit of a well-kept secret. Love those pickups.

Roast me all you want but I'll say it: SE is better than S2.

I own a very nice SE Custom 24, and my wife has an SE 245 that is an awesome guitar. But my S2s are nicer than either.

    Pedals and Amps

I tried to like Fender amps forever (I was a Strat player back then). I owned everything from vintage Champs to the newfangled modern ones. I played a Roland JC for years too. Then when I switched to PRS guitars, I thought, well, why not try something different with your amps too? Now, I’m a...

Why don't the S2 Standards have moon inlays?

I’m with @spawnofthesith. I guess I would prefer moons. That said, the dots help contribute to the functional aesthetic of the S2 Standards, especially the satin ones like mine. I had so many people tell me, “I‘m not into the fancy PRS thing, but your guitar is really cool”. I like all the...

Anyone know about what percentage of CU24s have/had (Pattern) Regular necks?

Both of my S2 Standard 24s from a few years ago have pattern regular necks, and I think you’re right. They Customs from that period did too.

It's Time To Trust Your Own Senses and Judgment.

Trusting your own senses (or, as I usually say, trusting your gut) is how I wound up being a PRS guy. On paper, there’s no real reason for me to choose the brand—none of my particular guitar heroes play PRS. But at one point, I heard the sound of a Standard 24 on YouTube, and I thought, “I like...

    s2 custom24 85/15s

That’s my take too. I bought my S2 Standard 24s because they come from a few years ago, when the model still had the 85/15s pickups and the pattern regular neck. I love those pickups, although if you’re looking for a traditional PAF sound, you should look elsewhere.

    SE so why an S2?

I’m a big fan of Indonesia (not only my SE, but my wife comes from there) but I like my S2 Standard 24s better than my SE CU24. They just feel better. But SEs are pretty incredible for the price point.

PRS Switching: Blade vs Toggle vs Rotary

I like the blade, but I come from decades of playing Strats. The blade with the pull-up coil split on the tone pot is really intuitive for me.

What is your blues pedal in PRS

I use a TrueTone Route 66, which not only has a really nice OD (with a very handy blend control), but also a compressor on the other side. Really works well for mild to mid OD with my PRS.
