    Bolt on neck question

My Les Paul has a maple neck, and it sounds like about any other mahogany neck Les Paul out there. My experience is that the joint is much, much more critical than the material. Furthermore, as an engineer, my experience with soundwave propagation is that any time a sound wave (or really any...

    NGD: This Copper’s on Fire

I've always thought solid PRS' were kind of disappointing given the visual quality of the maple tops used. I like the seafoam green color on the DC3's, that kind of thing, but not on the others. But great googly moogly I think I just changed my mind - that copper is flippin' beautiful! And it...

    Rosie McSoapy vs 594 Soapbar

Took off the tip of my right middle finger a few years ago......and I would pick with my thumb, index, and middle finger. So I quit playing for a few years. Had to completely relearn when I got back to it, but by then, I had learned how to use my ring finger for similar things. I was moving a...

    Rosie McSoapy vs 594 Soapbar

Do you mean fretboard, or actual neck? If you just mean fretboard, then yeah, the PRS dealer by me (who I HIGHLY recommend) has one, and it is up on Reverb: https://reverb.com/item/10709792-prs-ted-mccarty-soapbar-2009-2-color-burst-w-ohsc-and-case-candy I am in there fairly often, and need...

Prorock gear. Softshell case I guess you'd call it. Much lighter than a hardshell, but much, much better protection than a gig bag (and it stays in tune). I have one for my resonator, but I bet this one will fit yours: https://prorockgear.com/collections/electric/products/rg380fc

    PRS Newbie

I wouldn't rule out an S2. I really dig the Starla, personally.

Anyone else have a "Prototype" pickup? E-Rock Special #3

Just the photo. Paperwork also says it shipped with D2's. Which to me just seems really weird. Almost makes one think it was changed after the fact (as well as lack of chrome coverll. But that seems even more unlikely.

PRS SE custom 24 or gibson sg

I know I'll get booed, but since I'm an SG fan, I'll chime in. The SG is probably the best bang for the buck guitar out there, nowadays. Yeah, I know they are up to $1500 now, rather than $1200 like last year. But a set neck, mahogany, American made (including electronics), and a hardshell...

Anyone else have a "Prototype" pickup? E-Rock Special #3

So I'm guessing not many others have seen proto's then? Anyway, here's a shot of the guitar, itself.

Anyone else have a "Prototype" pickup? E-Rock Special #3

Its okay. Actually, for the right scenario, it is awesome. To be honest, I lucked into this guitar. Had a Tele (58RI) I was just not happy with, though for what I paid, it was a steal. Found a guy with this guitar, he wasn't happy, so we swapped even. At any rate, I generally find the PAF's...

Anyone else have a "Prototype" pickup? E-Rock Special #3

Will try to get one of the whole guitar (it is flippin' beautiful) when I get a chance. But here are the pickup and Modcat stickers.

Anyone else have a "Prototype" pickup? E-Rock Special #3

According to the local rep, this is Paul's handwriting. I got the guitar used, it is a 2002 CE22. Prior owner didn't know anything about it. Local store has a great manager who checked out the guitar for me, and contacted PRS about the pickup. Not sure what it is, and other than "sometimes...

    Selling my hollowbody :(

Not sure if you are familiar with Derek Trucks or his model SG, but he used to have the brackett for a Bigsby on his SG to help balance out it. Might think about something like that.

Molded case to replace gig bag?

I have a Prorockgear softshell case for my resonator that I absolutely LOVE. I like it better than my hardshell cases (Gibson, PRS, and Guild). And it is tons better than a gig bag, both in protection, and the fact that it doesn't mess up the tuners. Not sure if they have a model that will...
