When a component says "500k" +/- 20% on the casing and the order spec, but a sample of thousands shows the mean is well below that, which affects the load on the pickups and hence the height and breadth of the resonant peak in an unpredictable way, and in a way which makes the high end less...
For one, we're talking about pots. Mini toggles aren't pots.
There is no misinformation. I'm a luthier and music electronics tech. The pots used by PRS are cheap pots I can get wholesale for $2.50. PRS can get them for much less due to order quantity.
I DO NOT use those pots, I routinely...
Given they use the same cheap, bulk pots in a private stock as they do in an S2, I'd be shocked. I've seen exactly 1 PRS where the pots actually measured 500k or more, and I own a few dozen, worked on many more.
PRS uses $5 wide tolerance pots in even the most expensive private stocks. Meh. I just replaced the pots in in on of my PS CU24s with wd/cts tight tolerance pots that ACTUALLY measure 500k +.
Stock "500k" pots measured low 400s, which is typical. Makes a difference folks.
Also why I LOL...
Not saying none are, just that I've found them inconsistent. And I don't like small frets. SE Santana for instance has frets that are .042 to start with, if you have to level them, fahgettaboutit. Waiting to see if the DGT has actual jumbo frets.
Correct 58/15 LT Wire Codes:

Neck: Screw: (South Up) (+) Black pushback, (-) white Slug (North Up) (+) Green, (-) Red
Note I reversed the order listed from Bridge...
Cosmetics.
I'm talking about how well the board is leveled and the fallaway geometry, then how well the frets are seated.
If you actually do this kind of work, you know the stuff you just mentioned is final clean up stuff that affects looks, not function. It's stuff I do at the end just as...
I wouldn't say SE vs core is an appropriate comparison, but SE vs S2 is a closer price point, especially on used S2s.
Fancy veneers is all an SE has going for it there. S2s are usa guitars made to the same quality standards as core or private stock, with less frills. Different top carve...
