As I sit here in a chair with my Silver Sky to the left, and my 305 to my right, I get what you're saying.I'm here because I had a 594 for a few months and it was my dream guitar and I loved it immensely and I enjoy the enthusiasm for all things PRS in this community. But I couldn't comfortably play that guitar in my preferred seated position due to the leg cut location and I recently sold it. Since that leg cut location appears to be shared by almost every PRS body out there except the Silver Sky, I'm extremely unlikely to ever own another PRS unless I eventually do try a Silver Sky. Which won't happen anytime soon, but it could happen someday. So now I'm just kind of hanging out because I still love looking at the gorgeous work PRS does and I've come to like a lot of you folks. I'm 95% a lurker around here now, mostly looking at the pretty pictures of gorgeous guitars, but I'll chime in on something not all that PRS specific every now and then. Like this!

It's not even a balance thing as much as a reach thing for me. I think the standard PRS leg cut is so far forward so there wouldn't be a balance issue and that works, for me at least. But it just makes access to the upper frets and a comfortable picking position a lot harder for me, requiring various methods to compensate, all of which work but none of which are comfortable. Bottom line, I kept finding myself putting the 594 back on the wall after 10-15 minutes and grabbing something else.As I sit here in a chair with my Silver Sky to the left, and my 305 to my right, I get what you're saying.
I never really had it impact me because I never really thought about it much, or cared because I play standing up at practice and gigs. That being said, in a chair with axe on right thigh, the Silver Sky is better balanced.
And I failed to mention Old Farts With Guitars which was, of course, perfect for me. It was a lot of short lived fun but it seems to be on life support (a seemingly fitting metaphor).Guitar Gathering (moderator)
