2013 SC245. 57/08 pickups. The bridge pickup is very weak.

The previous owner had moved the neck pickup height down flat with the surround ring.
The bridge pickup height is correct.

With the bridge pickup on 10 the neck pickup has to be set at 3 to match volume.

I took the control plate off and everything appears untouched.
The one thing I did notice is that passing wire braid may be touching the solder point on the volume pot.
Would this be enough to cause a partial ground out?

Suggestions? Or should I just take it down to the shop?

Thanks.

I think you are saying the braid is touching the same terminal as the wire coming out of the braid. If that is true it is definitely your problem. You are grounding the signal.

The braided ground/shield should be soldered to the back of the volume pot (or some other ground point) and shouldn't be touching any of the terminals. That could definitely do it.

It'll be best to measure it with a multimeter to see what kind of resistance the bridge pickup is showing. But you can also just plug into an amp with the back cover off and move that wire around to see what happens.

It could be that ground connection, a cold solder joint, or possibly a break in the pickup wire somewhere.
