Been playing this beaut since Friday. Surprisingly heavier than you'd think; neck is a dream; does not smell like fish. Sounds to me a nice mix of bright and punchy. Am getting some spring rattle tho, I think...
I posted the dealer pics before, but here's some less glammed ones.
To me, it almost ends up looking like a 1-piece top!
The 'character holes' include one right behind the bridge that makes it look like a wayward bridge install hole. Included a shot next to my Holcomb for the contrast and because these are my two faves now.

Just got my new RL Vela today. Plays and sounds completely amazing, setup is perfect, resonance for days! Anyone else have that weird fish oil smell from the fret board?
Yup, neck/fretboard has a definite fish smell. Stays on my hands after playing. Might be body heat reacting with the finish.
