Strange white dots on the fretboard SC 594

Hi there. Apologies if this had been already asked here (could not find anything through search). I picked up a used SC594 and there are tiny white dots spots on the fretboard. I am trying to figure out if this is some sort of defect or if this is normal for this type of wood. Thank you.
