By my mother I'm a guitar player, and by my wife I'm a guitar player, but by a guitar player, I'm no guitar player. ;)

I'm a keyboard player. And I like electronic music. So....

Here's a few new electronica pieces done under my Red Orchestra alter ego. Turn 'em up. Apologies if you hate this kind of stuff.

I enjoyed listening to the tracks Les. I had vision of the movie Blade Runner when listened to the first track.

Great stuff.

Very well done Les. I agree with Viking Gangster - the tracks definitely evoke kind of sci-fi atmospheres. I listened to all of them a couple times through, it's easy to just kind of drift off while they play (I mean that in a good way).
It sounded like Argo had a bit of acoustic guitar in addition to the 20th PS?
I'll have to play them for my young son, who is a techno fan, to see if they get his seal of approval.

Oh man, I loved Vangelis' work in that soundtrack. He's the master!

I was thinking of it as kind of amospheric music, kinda chill stuff. Maybe a bit sci fi - glad you like!

The guitar is just the 20th Anni, run through some effects on the pedalboard, into one of the amps, and then processed a bit during mixing. I was trying to get a very ethereal, almost synth-like sound instead of the typical guitar sound I go for.

But I think the guitar adds a natural and human quality to this kind of work.

Les, at the very beginning of "Argo" is a percussive sound that echoes from the right to the left channel. It sounds like slapping an acoustic guitar strings - what is that sound? A sample?

Hi Tom, it's actually a sound made on the DSI Prophet 12 synthesizer, and then run through some filters and delay effects.

Your basic, standard, synthesizer technique stuff. It's all about the filters.

I finally listened to these tracks, and I wanted to say nice job! When I hear people who don't do it often try to mix electronic music and guitar, one side or the other often sounds out of place, but you got the guitar to fit well in Argo. I hope that you'll continue to work on your own personal music like this even though you're getting your fretting hand back.

Congrats on finally getting this stuff done! I hope you're happy with it, and I'm sure if you find more time to refine your electronic sound and maybe mix some more of your guitar/etc. into it you'll be even happier with future tracks. Good luck, and please keep us updated! :)
