$1000 is a bit on the low side, for sure. Though I did pick up a Tremonti in a part-trade, part-cash deal. Got my first SC245 in a trade for an amp I was flipping.
Make some offers. If you are willing to do some work on the guitar, or if you don't mind the odd ding or scratch, there are guitars out there for sure. A lot of people wind up with guitars that need a setup and play terribly. So they dump them.

I passed on an SC a year or so ago. He wanted $1100 for it, but would have let it go for $950 without the pickups (Dragon 2's). The earlier SC's seem to pop up for a decent price.
