hey all, i joined the forum just to post this question. sorry if its been asked before, im just having a really hard time pinning down what bridge saddles I need for my SE 7.
i want to replace the stock saddles with Graph Tech (or similar) graphite saddles.

on the Graph Tech website they have a 7 string set that are meant for strats/teles:
http://www.graphtech.com/products/b...tring?id=af62f216-50b0-4a8f-a7bc-97237edae4c5

they also have a 6 string set meant for PRS tremolo bridges:
http://www.graphtech.com/products/b...ddles?id=0fb0daa2-38a2-47c9-8c21-2b668e0bfdd4

the only difference here (other than the 7th saddle in the first set i posted) appears to be the string spacing, but i can't find a good answer on if the 7 string set will fit my non-tremolo PRS bridge.

additionally, i found on another thread someone mentioning how similar this bridge is to the stock PRS bridge:
https://hipshotproducts.com/products/7-string-175-fixed-guitar-bridge

the string spacing on this is just a little bit less than what the 7 string set of saddles is meant for, but it should fit right? any disadvantage to using saddles that are just a hair too small? am i thinking about this correctly?

thanks! :)

If the saddles are a little too narrow that's okay, but it means there will be a little gap in between them.

I would give John Mann a ring and see if he'd be willing to make a set of 7 of his brass saddles. I'm not at all a fan of String Saver saddles, personally.

interesting and worth looking into, but not what i'm looking for.
i want graphite for the reduction in string breakage.
ive used them before, on a strat that had a wilkinson bridge, and they were awesome.
I just want that on my PRS. and i know for the wilkinson i had to buy specific saddles for that bridge.

the Hipshot bridge lists the total string spacing as 2.496"
the bridge saddles list their total spacing as 2.4375" (that's 2 and 7/16)

assuming the PRS bridge has the same spacing as the Hipshot
(apparently the string holes line up so i assume this is true);
would those saddles work in that bridge?
there will basically be an extra 0.0585" of wiggle room, distributed between the saddles.
will this cause any issues with tuning or something else i'm not aware of?

Looking at the specs for the GraphTech products, the saddle width is the same as PRS, so they will work with the stock bridge plate. I don't know the specs of the Hipshot, so couldn't tell you if they would work with their plate. Keep in mind the Hipshot plate uses different mounting holes.

Sounds like you have something that works for you in those String Saver saddles, but if you're having trouble with breaking strings there's most likely a burr on the saddle that can be filed down.
