You know what would be cool? If the fretboard had an inlay of something -- a boat, perhaps? -- and the underside had shadows, like how it would be seen from underwater. Not sure how that would work with the birds, but I could see it being done.

I like the ones on my acoustic. PRS did a great job with the birds, the rosette and the purfling around the top. Not highly fancy, but tasty enough.

I was gonna say the normal hollow birds are my favorite, but no, those are my favorite. Holy smokes.
