Periscope #2.

Knots/blotches on an otherwise nice neck are a deal breaker for me as are large mineral lines on maple tops.

Correction:

Knots and growth rings in the center of the neck aren't my thing. There's an ME1 on eBay that has gone unsold for almost two years with a knot in the center of the neck that looks cancerous(the top is great btw).

It is a personal thing, but I like the Zircote myself. Having been a professional forester for 20 years, I love the different kinds of woods and the character they can display when properly worked. I find different wood grains fascinating, and knots and swirls and burls and birds eyes (which are actually tiny knots resulting from adventitious buds) just make for lots of eye candy, IMHO. But, I admit, we all have our personal tastes. That makes the world go 'round and gives us choices.

You guys talking about that stripe down the middle (sorry, tree-lexic person here)?

That looks like perfection to me :)

To me, it's all about how it plays and what it sounds like. I have to admit, I am curious.

Looks like it might be a moot point, however.
