hey all;

an underappreciated master.
granted, he was a xxxx, i've never seen him smile, but damn, he can play.
Unfortunately, he died like rick danko, drunk, bloated and done.

test your mettle. try to learn/play these songs without resorting to lessons or tab, just yourself and your ear.

he is playing peter greens' '59 les paul. most famous guitar in the world.

nothing to be said.

one more. you have to be able to play these songs, or not, depends on your goals.
but, damn, they are fabulous.

and this can't hurt.

good luck.

cheers!

Cool blues and tasty licks.

The most famous guitar in the world is a left handed bass...

...recognizable even as just a simple line drawing, right hand version, incomplete controls:

...and instantly connected to this guy.

Try the same thing with an outline of an R9. Recognizable as an LP, but instantly connectable to Gary Moore or Peter Green as THE iconic guitar? No.

Who played an LP R9?

Everyone.

Blues Alive is one great album to jam along with. I don't play in his bombastic style, though. Parisienne Walkways is one my favorite tunes to play. Love that melody.

That is only recognizable to the 60 and over crowd. :) You are dating yourself.

A right handed Fender Strat pictured upside down might be pretty recognizable too. There was this guy named Jimi that played one.
