I'm planning to convert my combo into a head...
Cool - hope you post all details on how you go about it. Would be interesting.
They don't make it as a head, but if the amp appeals to you, isn't there the option of simply hooking up an extension cab?
It's not a bad thing to have a little grab and go combo like the Archon 25; could come in handy, and then you have both options.
You don't really save all that much size or weight with a head, and you could always take the speaker out of the combo if you'd never use the internal speaker and weight is an issue.
Then again, if having a project is fun, by all means have at it!
