Go get a flu shot

Just got mine and I’ve been a tad sick from it but it’s still 100x better than having the flu! Feel better!

I've never got one in the past. Just turned 50 and thinking I should. and that shingles thing too.
Dude, you do NOT want shingles. Most painful thing I’ve experienced. A buddy of mine had them on the inside...you read that right...and the doctor thought he had stage IV cancer. No lie. Get the shots.

Don't get the flu shot! That's how the government chips you.:rolleyes::p

Now you've done it.

Yeah, I just went down with a case of flu (or some other infection) as well... Great weight loss programme, though I can't brag about 10 lbs.

I got it friday too, so the whole weekend was spent on the couch... What's the point of full salary during sick days if you get sick on the weekends - that's just stupid!

The problem with the flu shot (or actually, the flu-vaccine shot, ha ha) is that is is only about 40% to 60% effective, and even less so the older you get: it appears that older people's immune systems do not "learn" from vaccines the way younger folks' bodies can. Nonetheless, older folks are more susceptible to the flu, so getting a shot is better than not.

So it isn't a guarantee, but it can help. You may get the shot and still get the flu, you may not get the shot and not get the flu.

This is my main reference for specifics:

What I am looking forward to is a new type of flu vaccine that targets the generic parts of what makes the flu the flu, so it doesn't need to be given every year, more like a tetanus shot every ten years, or just once in your life maybe. Still in early animal clinical trials.
