Can’t really pick because it’s almost like comparing two totally different genres. JP for extended metal relevance with seminal records in four different decades, DP for sheer originality. Musicianship and live performances are pretty much a push. Ritchie Blackmore is my single coil distorted tone spirit animal. Ian Paice might be the best hard rock drummer ever, with possible apologies owed to the Professor. [Edit, or the late great Cozy Powell.] Rob Halford is the metal god.

Here's an odd billing. I saw Black Sabbath back in '83 or so, with Dio at the helm. The Outlaws opened for them.

Rush did a leg of their 1985(?) tour with the Fabulous Thunderbirds opening for them. Figure that one out!

Yeah, I think DP, too. Saw Priest many times, but Deep Purple has Roger Glover...and he wasn't always buried in the mix.
