Hey All,

Have seen a few listings talking about custom orders. Some with pictures of their source wood and several mentioning the very long time frame. Im assuming you order thru a certified dealer? Do you pay upfront? Do you put down a deposit? Do you always get to chose your source wood? What if you cant get to MD?

As someone who will most likely do this eventually, Im curious about the overall process from those who’ve already been there :)

Do you pay upfront? Depends on the Dealer.
Do you put down a deposit? ^Above.
Do you always get to chose your source wood? PS.
What if you cant get to MD? Nbd, but Experience is approaching! https://www.prsguitars.com/experience/

As mentioned above, the PS process goes through a dealer. You pick one, and work with them through the process. You can be present in the Vault, with your dealer, to select your woods. If you can't make it, there are several dealers that will Skype (or some version of technology) that will allow you to be virtually present during the wood selection process.

If Private Stock,is it of your range, you can work with your dealer on an Artist Package order. You don't get to pick your specific top, neck, back, etc, but you do get to pick your wood species. So, you say quilted maple, limba back, rosewood neck and your dealer places the order. You just don't get to say, "I want that specific top, etc".

Or, you can get in on a Wood Library Run where a dealer specs at least 10 guitars of a specific model and selects woods based on their desire.
