I ordered this cu 24 in 1993. I was disappointed at first that it wasn't a quilt top,but I soon fell in love with it. The dealer said it was a unique wood grain pattern that reminded him of lace wood. I have been searching for another guitar that looks similar, and have never found one. I have only seen flame or quilt tops. Has anybody else seen a similar pattern? Is this even maple? Does anyone know what I have here? Thanks in advance for any help.

No, probably not maple. If it is lacewood it could be American Sycamore...

If it's a stock CU24 then I don't see how it could be anything other than maple. You might have just got one with super crazy rare figuring, so I'd enjoy that fact alone.

The back and sides are black like they did back in the day. The unstained " binding" is visible though.

I believe they did a little Lacewood limited type of thing a long time ago.

Yeah, it doesn't really look like Maple, but it could be. Maybe someone who knows for sure could chime in on whether they had a lacewood limited run.
