Did you know the chip was there? Or see it before you bought it?
I think if it was pristine, it would have been sold as new even if it had been played in store. A demo suggests some wear.
I'm with VB on this one. Demo stock usually indicates some wear and tear, otherwise they would have just listed it as new. If it bothers you, return it, assuming they have a return policy. If not, I'd rock it out!
