Black finish

I'm wondering if the black finish, specifically on a Mccarty 594, is a solid black, or if some of the grain is still visible on the maple top. I've looked at lots of pics online, and some look like there is a bit of grain, but others look just solid black.
Or is there a type of black finish where the figured maple still comes through? I love the charcoal burst, but thinking of something more subtle.
Thanks. Great to be here. :)

There’s a black opaque finish, and from time to time there has been a finish called Gray-Black, that’s still available on the Artist Package.

Gray-Black is probably what you’re looking for.

Here's a couple of black-ish versions to give you an idea. The first one, I still have. The other two have moved on.

the satin lines have no grain fill, feels good too though

That second one is beautiful. Where did it move on to? And why?

+1

Don’t think I could have let that one go either. Hope you got something amazing to replace it?:D

Of course you did!

I traded it to a gentleman in Texas for mint condition '91 Ltd Edition. #5 of 300

That 594 was great, too. But, I had another, and the LE is amazing!
