Some of you may have seen my thank you to PRS in the general section, but I didn't write a proper new amp thread...

Quick backstory I'm fairly new to PRS (owning not lusting after) I am a very split guitar player in that I love really heavy gain as equally as a good clean. This usually involves multiple amps. My last couple gigging amps had been another high gainer for the insane (get it?) the P (2x12 beast of a combo) variety really had an ok clean after tube and speaker swap, but I was never fully satisfied. When The F 50watt version arrived I jumped at it. Granted it was called a three channel I ran it as two. I was pretty happy with it, but had a few annoyances. The shared eq on 1&2, the almost 70lb cab only having one top handle, and I was honestly worried about reliability as I've had a problem or seven with that company over the last few years.

Enter the Archon...

Everything I have really ever wanted. The combo is a good weight and really holds it own. Someday maybe I'll grab and extension cab (be cool if there was a matching one) but there are no problems with volume. Some say combos are boxy, but I really think this sings. The clean (especially with the split sounds) with the bright on is dreamy! The gain channel cleans up well as long as you don't dime it (even I don't need that much gain but love that it's available). Also really love the combo cover I ordered this week! If there was anything I didn't like and I'm really splitting hairs is if the footswitch cable detached from the switch. But really it's fine and I just coil and Velcro it to my board.

To sum it up... This things ROCKS

Welcome to the Archon club! Lots of happy members around here. Ditched my MkV for a 50w head. The Mesa was a sweet amp, but I love the Archon more. Couldn't be more pleased with it. Congrats to you!

I like Mesa stuff, I just could never get on with all the controls. I mean for some it's great, but I'm just not the kind of player. I want to find a great tone quickly and if need be tweak it slightly. Even though I use a modest board (tuner, phase, chorus, delay) I've been mostly playing the archon straight in. That and the controls on the CE24 have given me a huge range of sounds

Yep. Same reason I moved on from the Mesa. Too many knobs for my patience level.

AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!! AR-CHON!!!

Welcome to the club...they are wonderful little beasts, aren't they!

It's not nice to rub salt in open wounds! :D

Congrats on the new amp. pics or it didn't happen!

Open wound? Eek hope I didn't commit a faux pas...

Just became a member of the Archon Club as well with a 25W combo. I've only had it a few days—and I may change my opinion—but, It's so good that I'm thinking of replacing my Bogner Helios 100 with an Archon head.

I hope I don't also want the 100 (the paisley edition is killer though)

I know how you feel. I'm running under the Classic Tones Party.

Depending on your pickups and setting, lower gain stuff is really more than attainable with the amp. The eq does a ton to shape and if you run guitar volume a little lower you have a perfect rhythm sound and just tweak up for solos. The clean channel also takes pedals really well if that's your thing. It's probably the most versatile amp I've owned.
