I have a Les Paul Standard if that's what you mean? I tried a 594 SE the other day and *loved* the neck. I might go for a hollow body 2 at some point in the future, but nothing's imperative at this point.
I am still curious to know if any 'name' players use the SHH as their main instrument.
Having spent some more time with it, this is a very "hot" guitar. It's great, but it needs turning down to get more manageable sounds - very much old-school in the way it needs control that way, but it's incredibly versatile. It's a beast!
What artists use the PRS Special Semi Hollow as their main instrument?
I've looekd at the PRS artist page but it doesn't really say.
They're really solid & expressive instruments...!
Solid question. I put mine in the middle of the chain after the drives, before the modulation. I want the 'amp' to sound like it's in a space, rather than the space sounding like it's coming through the amp.
This post further up the thread offered some measurements: https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/dgt-neck-vs-pattern-regular.34027/post-426373
Personally it was a mix of measurements and pictures that helped me make the decision sight unseen. The picture I am talking about is below.
Does the...
So I have a Core Special Semi-Hollow here with me now, and it's a VERY different beast to the DGT. 'Wide Fat' was a much better description, because that's what it is. I notice that the exact same dimensions in the SE range are still called 'Wide Fat'.
In practical terms it feels very similar...
That's the information I am after. A hand injury means that I can't play the DGT for more than a day - which is depressing, as it's a lovely guitar. Let's try the special and see what happens!
OK, thank you for the advice.
The numbers above are from the PRS website. I'm going to go along to the dealer later this week and hope that the 'pattern' neck on a new PRS Special will be bigger than the DGT.
Does anyone know ahead of time whether the tale of the numbers above for a 2022...
This is interesting. I have a DGT and I need a fatter neck - more like a Fender Deep U or a Gibson '59 reissue.
The *numbers* say that a pattern is thicker than a DGT as below - but are you all saying that actually no, they're very similar?
Thanks everyone for the reassurance.
There's 10s on there at this point but I use lighter gauges so that as @Greywolf says I have greater dynamics and sensitivity. Also, playing 11s and 12s for years means that I now have carpal/extensor issues in my fretting hand.
I think I'll ultimately...
Hello
I'm the proud owner of a 2021 DGT.
It came strung with 0.011s but I play 0.008s and 0.085 gauge sets for Fender and Gibson respectively .
Is there any issue with using lighter gauge strings on the DGT?
