Consider the new Alnico Grande Raihammers.
i've had Duncan's. EMG's and Fishman Fluences in an ESP/LTD EC1000 and of all the pickups I tried the Railhammers sound and feel the best by far.
I have a 96 CU24 and I find your description pretty spot on.
Now my 2013 NF3 is a much more versatile guitar.
Covers cleans, blues, crunchy rock and metal tones with outstanding dynamics.
Plus it's a much more comfortable guitar to wear and play for long periods of time.
My plan is to get a new pick guard cut, but it will require some routing underneath to make room for the switch.
Going to try and move it to a traditional Strat placement.
Outstanding job on the DT medley!!!
I have an NF3.
The only problem for me is where they put the pickup selector.
Really hard for me to use in fast switching situations.
For me I'd have to say Dave Weiner.
Love his solo work and also the stuff he does with Steve Vai.
Got to meet him a couple of times and he's very cool guy to chat with.
I was told the "Regular" neck I have on a CU24 and the "Regular Pattern" neck on my NF3 are the same shape.
My hands are telling me something completely different.
That "Regular Pattern" neck may be THE most comfortable shape I've ever played.
Ernie Ball guy for decades on all of my locking tremolo guitars, but on my PRS tremolo guitars I use Fender Bullets.
They seem to stay in tune better and get seated right away with those PRS trems.
My NF's are already so gorgeous and sparkly I'm not sure why anyone would want to tap them?
Seems like the effort would not gain very much tonally.
I mean it already sounds like a Strat without the hum.
Yep!
Been saying to everyone this is THE most 'dynamic' guitar I've ever played/owned.
Seems like it cleans up so dang good without losing hardly any volume and preserving an incredible tone when you roll down the volume.
And again, that neck........ just Wow!
Lol, think they meant "stint".
Funny thing according to the biography he didn't play with too many bands in the NY area except the funk band, until he moved to the Bay area.
I don't want to ruin it but it gets interesting from there.
