Does the SE not allow for the middle pickup/narrowfield to play alone? Surprised this one doesn’t. Not that this is supposed to be an SE, but that middle pickup is key to many of the Jerry Garcia tones that the SE was designed to be able to do.
Yeah - it’s amazing how much difference such a small measurement makes. I didn’t believe it at first when looking at specs awhile back.
I like the PTC option - seems reasonable. Anyone have an idea on rough ballpark price for that? Just seems if already making other necks prior to assembly...
Argh. Still strongly considering this. Would need to move both of my PRS’s and leave me only with this and my LP...but hell I only had one guitar for over 20 years...can’t be that bad right? This honestly could be my “one” guitar as it hits all of the buttons for me. Just wish it was 24...
Not even that I love the thin necks - honestly I need them. There are a number of frets (lower strings high up on the neck) I can’t reach with the Pattern necks due to very short fingers - pinky especially.
Is there a reason most all of the hollow/semi-hollow PRS guitars don’t have any pattern thin options (other than the CE run they just did)? I’m thinking about selling my new HB and would be all over any of the 22 or 24 fret semi-hollows if the weren’t most all Pattern necks. I LOVE the pattern...
Yeah he keeps a 594 on stage and uses it for some of their more bluesy songs.
Funny - there was one song I REALLY wanted to hear last summer on which he plays the 594. It was well into the first set and he turned around and put the 594 around his neck, and I just KNEW it was coming as they...
Well if she gave you that answer you might as well make it three! Search on YouTube for Jake’s leg. Their guitar player does a great Jerry using a custom 24. He’s a monster player... check ‘em out! Ha
Honestly it does a really good job, IMO. Especially this one I just got - but I want to change the neck pick-up out as it’s too dark/flat for my tastes (archtop PU’s). I had an HBII that I sold last year - was a 2009 with 57/08’s, playing through a Fender DRRI with tubescreamer and Ross style...
I dunno - I certainly dig the HB but have only heard incredible things about the doc from those lucky enough to play one. Of course could be biased because most who strive to play one are typicallly pretty big phish fans in the first place
Trey Anastasio - plays a Languedoc, where my main axe is a CU24 (followed by LP Traditional and now PRS HB - which is getting close to the ‘Doc). Different because:
- He plays a very unique guitar and I don’t just want to be a number one fanboy
- It’s well over what I can afford or would be...
