NGD: Custom 24 'Floyd' - It's here now...

Awesome CU24! I'm the proud owner of a '14 one with a way less figured top. Those pickups man! I didn't need hot pickups but they are so versatile. I really think PRS could put those in more guitars if they named them a little more sensibly.

    MT-15 tone question

I'd say a MT15 definitely gets you in the ballpark, especially if you use an EQ in the loop. Out of the box, I'd say the MT15 is more in the ballpark of JP's tone when he was using Recto's, but with an EQ you should be able to get close to the Mark tone. Of course the guitar and speakers used...

Best tuning machines debate (civilized debate)

I'm pretty happy with most locking tuners I tried: Schaller M6 locking Hipshot PRS Phase III I was less impressed with the Gotoh locking tuners that lock automatically from the top. They're solid tuning wise, but you still have to wind the mechanism a lot to lock or unlock the string. Also, the...

    Custom 24 Floyd: which nut?

Not sure, it looks to me like it's worn. I know the previous owner used heavier gauge strings and with excessive clamping force I can imagine this being the result (see some wear on the locking clamps as well, pointing to force).

    Custom 24 Floyd: which nut?

Thanks, I think I'm pleased to hear to customize each nut for the guitar but had hoped they could tell me 'yeah it's a R3' or that they had one available for purchase. Looking for a replacement will be more difficult. I know I said mounting holes might differ, but at least for Floyd Rose nuts...

    Custom 24 Floyd: which nut?

Yeah, did just that earlier today, and already received a response (props for PRS CS), even though it's very much not urgent. Basically, I was told that it's a proprietary nut (hence the lack of info on the web) and that it's customized to the neck carve of each individual instrument. There...

    Custom 24 Floyd: which nut?

Hi there, bought a ‘14 Custom 24 Floyd (core) and during the string change I noticed there’s some grooves in the locking nut already. I was wondering what nut PRS used for a future replacement (it still has some life in it now, but I’d like to be prepared). I checked it out and the nut says...

SE Torero - Low E fret buzz (HELP!)

So ideally you have to measure relief first. Put a capo on the first fret, fret the last fret and measure the space between the string and the top of the 8th fret. It should not touch the fret, but it shouldn't be more space than the thickness of a business card. I recommend getting some feeler...

SE Torero - Low E fret buzz (HELP!)

So if I understand correctly, it was OK after the setup but the buzz came back later? That should point to the neck relief as has been said above. Check that first before doing anything drastic :) Might just need a little 1/8th of a turn.

    MT 15

Yeah my dealer (In Europe) told me the expected date was pushed to early August (when it used to be June). I don’t understand the messages saying they arrived at PRS – or will it take a month to check them? Anyway, I can wait. Just excited to get it.
