I’ve got the same one, with lots of buckle rash from gigs and jams. I like it stock but occasionally I contemplate some brighter pickups. Have fun.

I’d buy a run-of-the-mill core model. I suppose I could technically afford one now, but I can’t justify that kind of dough for a guitar. But if money became no concern for me, I’d probably look at a McCarty 594 Hollowbody II in dark cherry sunburst. Or maybe a special semi-hollow.

I agree with what’s already been said. Coil splits will get a little more snap, but still nothing like a tele bridge pup. I’d say play your strat when you want more single coil bite (still not a tele but closer).

Yup. As mentioned, I’ve watched those and I hear the difference. Looking for feedback now from people who have played both.

I am very interested in trying the SE Hollowbody but a bit torn between the standard and “II” versions. I read through the long thread on the Hollowbody and opinions seem to be mixed. Most seem to say the II with the maple is brighter, and that seems to come through in demos. My question is - is...

SE Hollowbody II (or maybe the standard) or S2 McCarty 594. I have an S2 Singlecut Standard (along with a tele and a Gretsch). Pretty sure one of those PRSs will be next.

How would you describe the differences between the Hollowbody with 58/15 pups and the McCarty 594? Those two guitars are on my shortlist right now. Basically I’m looking for something a little brighter and livelier than my S2 Singlecut.
