    Loose Pots

The tone pot on the Holcomb SE is also loosy goosey. Seems to work OK but it did have static after about a week. I sprayed some cleaner in it and it has been OK. Just turns very freely, more free than I'd like but hey, it's all good. Apparently it is supposed to be this way.

    SE Tuning Instability

The Holcomb SE ships with 10-52 strings. I use the 10-46s EB Slinky's so no 'upsizing' involved. The nut has issues with pinching the strings. Plus the white nut doesn't match the white neck binding, which is unfortunate. Otherwise the guitar is amazing! I see that the OP already changed the...

What are the best locking tuners to replace the PRS SE Mark Holcomb stock tuners?

Probably a little late to the party, but the Schaller's fit on the Holcomb. However, I had to make the mounting screw hole a bit bigger on the Schaller's to accompany the screw from the Holcomb. Basically took a drill and wallowed out the mounting hole on the Schaller ever so slightly...

    SE Tuning Instability

I love my Holcomb but the nut is the weak link. First off, the white nut doesn't even match the cream colored trim on the neck so it just looks bad. But worse, the nut on mine pinches the G and high E strings so they don't fully ring out. I don't seem to have tuning issues per se, but I did put...

    Mark Holcomb: Periphery: Rig Rundown

Thanks for the link. One difference to the SE version for the masses is that his has a different nut. On the mass version the nut is white and his SE’s had a black one. Also, I couldn’t help but notice how the black paint on the pick-up frame screws was still in tact. On my SE the paint wears...

Is this a common observation (SE Mark Holcomb)

Old thread but I have the same issue with my Jul2017 Holcomb SE. I think in my case the TRC is hitting a little white nub which extends off the white nut. I actually never noticed until last week when I actually removed the cover to make a truss rod adjustment.

NGD - 2017 PRS Mark Holcomb SE is in da house!

Thanks for the input. I’ll probably pass on the Schaller’s for now. Sure would be nice to have locking tuners, though. I’ll give a go a bit of light sanding on the nut at some point. When I went to adjust the truss rod I noticed that the nut had a little piece of plastic sticking out which was...

NGD - 2017 PRS Mark Holcomb SE is in da house!

This has been a helpful thread. My Holcomb SE is from July 2017. Overall it has been very nice. I had no idea who Mark Holcomb was, I just loved the look of the guitar and wanted to try a PRS. Most all there guitars have the white pick-up frames, which I do not care for. So, I liked the darker...
