Here is how the story ends. I bought a mint 509. I thought the mod on the 513 would be costly with shipping and shop charge at PRS and may negatively affect resale value so I took the path of least resistance. and hope to break even. I will be sad to sell my 513- it has a spectacular chevron...
I love the 513. I have owned literally everything else and it remains the king. - Had it for 18 years now but I never use the neck humbucker. In live performance one flip beats two plus all the fancy footwork im doing on the pedal board. Im looking forward to this mod simplifying the tone...
ouch -Its a semi castration with a beneficial outcome. So not quite full balls off I got a couple likes on my post so maybe that is a sign of agreement.
I thought this would have come up before- many times. After all they discontinued the 513 for the 509. to accomplish the same thing.
Does any one else want to do this to their 513?? I could not find a post on this subject.
Mine is a 2008 so it has the circuit board with 100 wires coming out. I was hoping that I could just clip a couple wires on the pickup rendering one coil dead and leaving one active. Thoughts on that?
I would like to make the neck pickup single coil only, so It will be single coil in all 3 pickup positions. This would eliminate the need to throw 2 switches when going from neck single to bridge humbucker. Is it possible and how do I mod?
