Neck and fretboard wood suggestions for a PS build?

Great suggestions. I’ve been reading recently about some that didn’t love the results from the necks that steered too far away from the formula, so I think I will stick with mahogany, but haven’t decided ln the fretboard wood yet,

Neck and fretboard wood suggestions for a PS build?

I have been thinking for a while about ordering a PS Paul’s Guitar. I was thinking about going for a mahogany neck with brazilian fretboard, but maybe there are more interesting options? I heard that African Blackwood was a great option for fretboards. I’m not sure about going for a full...

Who’s making the PRS US acoustics nowadays?

Yes, I know that. What I was wondering is if they still have a team building the US PS acoustics (similar to ehat’s shown in the videos), or if things have changed.

Who’s making the PRS US acoustics nowadays?

I came across this video yesterday () where I surprised to see how there were several people involved in the acoustic building process at PRS. However, it is from 10 years ago, so I was wondering how things are nowadays as I heard that the US core acoustics were discontinued and they now only...

What type of strings are used in the US made acoustics?

They seem to be light top and heavy bottoms, but arethey phosphor bronze or 80/20? The PRS store sells them but doesn’t provide much info about them: https://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/guitar-strings/products/prs-acoustic-strings

Help me build a great PS Paul’s Guitar.

To be honest, I don’t think I’ve played a PRS I didn’t like sound wise. I’ve bought a 594 based on reviews and opinions of people of this forum and wasn’t disappointed. Don’t think there is anything wrong about hearing the thoughts and opinions of people with more experience with Private Stock...

Help me build a great PS Paul’s Guitar.

For what it’s worth, Phil McKnight, who has a lot of experience with guitar gear, said that he was even more impressed with Paul’s guitar than the 594. He praised the guitar a lot.

Hey Les, might I ask you what is the wood combo on your favorite guitar? The one you mentioned in the holy grail thread. Your comments on it definitively piqued my interest!

Tips/advice for first time Private Stock order?

I will order a PS sometime in the near future and would appreciate advice from seasoned PS owners. Things that tend to be overlooked that may have a positive impact (from either a tonal, playability or aesthetic standpoint) on the final product.

Help me build a great PS Paul’s Guitar.

Update: so it seems like Chaltecoco isn’t an option for neck wood at this moment for PS builds, so I’m still deciding which type of wood to go for. I would go mahogany, but have had some double cutaway guitars where a lot of notes past the 12th fret have awful sustain. Some have mentioned that...

Never heard of burl. Does that typically result in an upcharge?

Help me build a great PS Paul’s Guitar.

This is a fantastic suggestion! So is the Pernambuco not available in Private Stock? The suggestions made for keeping it as close as possible to the original recipe make sense if it’s going to be my main, possibly only hb guitar. So far I think it will be: mahogany body, maple top, Chaltecoco...

Help me build a great PS Paul’s Guitar.

Later this year I’m planning on ordering a PS Paul’s guitar which will be my only high end humbucker guitar. I know that I’m in the minority, but I prefer to have as little gear as possible. I’d rather have one very versatile guitar than 3 different ones at my disposal. Seems like the Paul’s is...
