Are Jamie Mann and John Mann related?

Being an Apple user since 1990, there's some truth to this. Steve Job's era (his 1st and 2nd) saw a lot of innovation and polarizing forward thinking that both protected the brand (remember the Mac clones?) and made the rest of the computing world want to follow (how dare they make computers and...

Are Jamie Mann and John Mann related?

Let's hope that PRS maintains a more steady future than either Orville's or Leo's companies. Talk about ups and downs...

    Do I need a CE24?

I just purchased a new SAS SE, but I'm pretty sure my next PRS will be an older CE22 (as I don't think there are any 'newer' CE22s). I'm not a fan of 24 fret necks, so a CE24 is not really an option, but the new SAS SE fills a void that PRS has had for a while for us 22 fretters.

PRS SE Models - Do They Have the Same “Essence” As Core Models?

WE don't come to this conclusion. Only you do and it's a nonsense conclusion at best. Again, I've given you facts and history and you've given your opinion and these are not in alignment. PRS SE guitars are Paul Reed Smith guitars, period. The SE models are not the same as Core, CE and S2 models...

PRS SE Models - Do They Have the Same “Essence” As Core Models?

A little history lesson for you. For many years Epiphones were built in Korea NOT at Gibson-owned plants and some, the earliest Elite/Elitist models, were built in Japan, again, NOT at Gibson-owned plants. It wasn't until a few years ago that Gibson moved most Epiphone production to their own...

PRS SE Models - Do They Have the Same “Essence” As Core Models?

So many words and yet so little truth. Don't get me wrong; I know this is your truth that you've convinced yourself of in your own mind, but it certainly is not the truth as far as it relates to reality and how business and licensing and marketing all function successfully in the world. A PRS SE...

What Are Your Favorite Amps To Play?

My main amp is a Bad Cat Bobcat 20R. Amp #2 is a Bad Cat Cub 15R head and Bad Cat 212 cabinet that I use on the bigger stages and if I need to run in stereo. I have others, but these two have been my main go-to amps for years.

    Pedals and Amps

Yeah, sort of, but try emulating Steve Hackett's guitar parts on the early Genesis albums on talent alone and you will fail miserably. Or Trevor Rabin's solo in "Owner of a Lonely Heart" without some kind of harmonizer. Or U2's "Mysterious Ways" without a specific reverse auto-wah effect. Just...

PRS SE Models - Do They Have the Same “Essence” As Core Models?

Preface: I've not yet owned a Core model. I've played a bunch, from the '90s on (with that horrible rotary pickup selector), but I've never really been drawn to one yet. I've owned two S2 guitars (Standard 24 and Vela), currently own one S2 signature model (Vernon Reid) and just recently got my...

    Pedals and Amps

Maybe I'll get there someday, but at 57 years old it seems I've got more pedals and pedalboads now than ever before. Granted, I can be playing with 5 different bands at one time and then doing some tribute shows that require me to recreate specific tones and sounds, so all the toys are...

    P90/P-90 guitar search

I currently have two P-90 equipped guitars, both Les Pauls; a Junior and a BFG. There's something about the raw simplicity of a P-90 in a slab of mahogany that sounds like nothing else.

    SE Swamp Ash Special

This is my one-day-of-ownership review that I recently posted at TGP: I just bought one before the SE sale ended. Got the sunburst because I love the contrast with the cream pickup rings. I literally received it yesterday afternoon, unboxed it, tuned it up (it was already close) and took it to...

    SE Swamp Ash Special

Where can I get the proper lampshade control knobs for SE pots? And does anyone have the Mann locking tuners as opposed to the PRS locking tuners?

SE Swamp Ash Special - worth it?

Update: after hemming and hawing about the choice to buy or not to buy a SAS SE...and after demo'ing a new SE CE24 in the store the other day...I pulled the trigger on a new SAS SE today (the last day of the SE sale, yes?). I had to get sunburst because 1) I love the finish and 2) I dig the...

    s2 custom24 85/15s

When I had my S2 Standard I swapped the 85/15S pickups for a Jazz/JB combo. The difference was subtle but noticeable, although not eye opening as I had expected. I also swapped to a Mann brass trem, which changed the tone subtly, but the tuning stability degraded. I eventually took the guitar...
