Regarding the lineage of the S2 Singlecut, the Starla and the S2 Singlecut are not related like that. Starlas started as a Core, then S2 and then SE. S2 Singlecut could probably be traced to the older Singlecut, but the Standard is unique with the pickguard.
I have a few PRSi and my S2 Singlecut Standard in satin black can hang with any of my cores. Clean tones? What‘s that? These kids nowadays…
A: No issues with mine. Hardware is great and I prefer the s2 tuners over the Phase 3s. YMMV. Bridge is same as used on cores.
B: Pickups sounded glorious...
The neck on my Bernie feels absolutely fabulous, but every time I play a S2 or Core without binding and with rounded fretboard edges, I know why I bought them. My Signature Limited is my most expensive PRS - it has binding and a great neck, but I still prefer the regular rounded fretboard edges...
Youtube suggested the following video for me…does not help much with the GAS…
Towards the end he mentions that the DGT has tall frets. I am really interested in knowing whether these are 6100s or medium jumbos as Phil McKnight said in his review.
Have fret sizes changed during the years? I notice he said that the PRS had jumbo frets, but my definition of jumbo is not quite the same…

Regarding 24 frets vs 22 frets, compared to my DGT, the Standard 24 has easier upper fret access. I could live with either though, but the 24 makes playing certain solos...
Funny to see my old post quoted. Guess it is time for a little bit of an update…
When it comes to my guitars, the Bernie is the one currently getting by far the most playtime. I changed the string gauge from 9-42 to 10-46 and raised the action slightly. This change really made the guitar much...

I replaced my bridge with one from ABM and that got rid of the lean. A Mannmade bridge should also work. There is some inherent lean...
Not sure about the 24-08, but the 408 pickups also have very little volume drop when splitting. There is something else going on with the wiring on the pickups and splits, with the best explanation being I found being here - https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/the-408-system.31238/
This guitar was my first Core. Just plays like f$&$ing butter… The previous owner lowered the bridge a little and I am not sure who polished the fretboard, but this guitar has the smallest frets of all my guitars and just bends strings like a dream. I though the DGT would be the easiest playing...
