Custom 24 Artist finish faded from 'blue matteo' to 'dull grey' in 4 years - options?

Do you know; is it possible to refinish the top without redoing the whole guitar? I don’t want to jack with the serial number, I’d almost rather not do it and sell it as original if I absolutely had to mess with that. At least I could say I didn’t do touch it.

Maybe it’s something to make these lighter, more transparent colours. Some of the more solid, opaque blues seemed to have held up well, but the lighter colours, the ones that almost look like watercolours seem to be the ones fading. Mine has faded so much in 6 years, it’s crazy. I just about...

Custom 24 Artist finish faded from 'blue matteo' to 'dull grey' in 4 years - options?

Really, would you? I wouldn’t, I take ‘faded’ as a description, as in it’s been made to look faded. Mine wasn’t sunbathing, but it wasn’t stored in a case all the time, I’d expect a piece of paper in the case to advise of that if the colour was more prone. I don’t expect reasonably to have to...

The jeans are nice though, and expected. :D No mate. We’re not talking about jeans. It’s not the same. The car comparison isn’t the same either, guitars aren’t subject to weather and rain, despite the come t about gigs outdoors, honestly like… You have other finishes that don’t fade out...

Oh Jesus… you’d want to love that darker fade, wouldn’t you?... I think both colours are nice, but if you weren’t prepared for the darker colour?? Whew… that’s extreme. If I was at PRS I’d be reluctant to continue offering those colours until they’re sorted out. They say quality is king, I...

Custom 24 Artist finish faded from 'blue matteo' to 'dull grey' in 4 years - options?

Guitars aren’t out in the rain, sleet, wind and snow for 20 years like a car. I take your point, but not the best example. I have a DGT from 2016, it’s faded out from Faded Blue Jean to a pale green. It’s not something I’m happy about, if I ever had to sell it I don’t know if I’d take a hit on...

    Silver Sky Gut shots

The nut slots are shallower on a strat cos it has a straight headstock. This SS isn’t straight doesn’t have an much of angle on the headstock. The angle is more severe on something like a McCarty, so there’s more nut there. My tech used to round the edges on the PRS nut, to make it smoother...

    2009 SC250 vs 2020 S2 SC594

I'll assume you're in Europe. Don't pay more than €2,000 for a used singlecut, even that's high. They don't keep their value, they're hard to sell. You'll end up selling it yourself for €1600 if you don't like it. I'd consider paying €2k if it was really nice, with birds, etc, not for a plain...

NGD - 2020 DGT (with TCI Pickups)

Sorry guys, but for the sake of information - is everyone sure that the DGT pickups are TCI'd now? The website says the finish was updated for 2020, the pickups aren't mentioned; not surprising if it's a signature guitar.

I didn't know Guthrie Govan had PRSi

Don’t look back Chief, onwards and upwards!

Coded language for anything, but I’d believe what I said was what Guthrie actually said. I wouldn’t imagine him publicly mouthing off; wouldn’t be done.

I didn't know Guthrie Govan had PRSi

I'd heard from someone that spoke to Guthrie was the reason that he moved to Charvel was the fact that FMIC have worldwide distribution and better support when he's touring overseas. If he has gear stolen in Argentina or what have you, Fender can arrange replacement gear far quicker than a tiny...
