The rosewood from that era seems a lot more figured than what is being used in more recent years. I have a 594 singlecut with a RW neck and it doesn’t have grain patterns anywhere close to that one.
Seeking to identify a guitar that a friend of mine is buying second hand.
I’m thinking it’s a 2008 Custom 24 but I’m not familiar with a lot of the older models from before that time.

Interesting, is your guitar cased when not in use or does it remain out all the time? Maybe a side effect from UV exposure.
I have a rosewood necked McCarty that remains in its case when I’m not playing.
I haven’t noticed any color change to note.
What neck and fretboard wood does the new one have?
both a maple neck and ebony board can have a brighter sound especially compared to the traditional mahogany neck and rosewood board.
On PRS hollowbodies, which are light bodied guitars to begin with, it’s the difference between having considerable neck dive and hanging balanced on a strap.

re: DGT, i wonder what a 25 scale McCarty with DGT pickups would get on with you’re requirements since you liked the tone but not the specs.
They do serve a purpose, I’ve always found the original metal buttons add a bit of weight to the headstock. I’ve swapped out all of my metal ones for lighter wood ones matching the headstock veneer. Makes a big difference. I couldn’t care less what shape they are as long as they still turn...
