    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Unlikely, those were sandblasted. I've just discovered them, and am looking for one!

No thanks needed. (You could just give me one of your spare Custom 22 Soapies. :))

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Free-Way has stock schematics for 3-HB guitars at https://www.freewayswitch.com/schematics-toggle/, using either their 3X3-03 or 3X3-05 switch model. Look at that page's 2x "3 Pickup Guitars" sections, then browse various diagrams that say "2 Pots."

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

We used this revised tap + series diagram (or a slight modification of it). Great results! But your core SAS might have a middle HB: This is the revised diagram with tap push-pull but no series/parallel push-pull:

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Update:: Revised diagrams are now in the original posting. Hey! If you're planning to do either of these mods, please hold off a bit. We've discovered an anomaly where the bridge pickup, when split, leaks into positions 4 and 5 on the 6-way switch. Free-Way has kindly provided me with 2 updated...

Whew! Glat to hear it. And agreed – that's why they invented Rocky Road and Fudge Ripple flavors.

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

@dogrocketp Now I'm scared! How did it work out? Modded gloriously? Or disappeared into your guitar tech's alternate dimension, never to be seen again?

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Updated with revised diagrams. We did the "Everything" mod, with push-pulls for coil splits and series switching. Great results! The series options add punchier Tele, LP, and even jazzbox tones. Note the arrow pointing to an inset box at the top of each diagram. Use this alternate wiring to...

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Free-Way-03 schematics, 4-pot, Pt. 1 (PDF) My guitar tech is recommending a Free-Way switch (which other SAS owners here have praised). Their HSH schematic here is intriguing – it offers 6 pickup combinations, plus series options on a push-pull. Wonder if it's adaptable to 2 pots, with a 2nd...

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Still no wiring mods other than Torvald's added treble-bleed circuit? I'm now thinking "McCarty + Brent Mason" wiring: Tone down = stock 3-way switching of the 2 humbuckers. Tone up = same 3-way switching (bridge/both/neck), but with both pups split to their neck-facing coil. Plus a separate...

    PRS SE Swamp Ash Special!

Has anyone rewired their SE Swamp Ash Special yet? I like the humbucker tones. But with the tone pot pulled up, other than bridge HB + middle SC (which sounds nicely Fenderish and surfy), I find the other 2 stock coil combinations just bizarre. I'm reading about the Free-Way switch in this...

    Pick ups

The humbuckers that split best have very asymmetric coils, which aren't an especially vintage trait. You might check out Lindy Fralin's Unbuckers, which I've heard good things about, but have never heard. You might also look for an aftermarket pickups/wiring harness from an SE Paul's Guitar...

    Custom 24-08 Questions

FWIW, 85/15's sound great to me on almost any guitar. (I've swapped 85/15 S pickups onto a bunch of PRS and non-PRS guitars, with fine results.) I've heard the TCI pups only on SE Paul's Guitars and SE Cu 24/35th Anniversary's. They sound divine to me when split, but kind of cloudy in...

    New Custom Soapbar Day!

A beautiful Custom 22 Soapbar is the one that got away from me, 7 years ago. I still hope to find that exact white whale up for sale again some day. The folklore I've read is that (at least in the initial run) these had 3 identical-output Seymour Duncan P90's.

Finally, I´ll go for my first PRS!

If you want an SE 24-fretter, also consider an SE Custom 24/08, or a 2nd-hand SE Cu 24 35th Anniversary. For the switching flexibility on both. Also, the 35th has pretty, pretty Pāua birds. SE's and S2's share the same hardware. And a PRS floating tremolo has the same design on SE+S2 vs. Core...
