I really want to pick up one of the new SE cu24's. I love the whale blue but I'm not a huge fan of the creme binding and pickups. I want to put nickel covers on the pickups, but will this have any effect on the sound of humbuckers when coil tapped?

Why though? What's the big differences? I could spend 3 or 4 hundred more to get a good used s2, but what's the main motivation behind that?
